Nineta’s Life

Nineta Verbica was born in 1945 in Shkoder, Albania. From a young age, Verbica was always painting. She was being carefully mentored by the well-known artist Simon Rrota.

Since 1962, she has participated in many national exhibitions in Shkoder and  in Tirana.

She finished Art School at ‘Jordan Misja’ in Tirana in the painting department. Verbica worked as a designer and an art teacher throughout her life and alongside it she was constantly producing art work.

At the beginning of her artistic career she worked on realistic paintings with landscapes, portraits, smooth nature in oil and acrylic.

Up until the 1990’s, contemporary art was seen as improper and unlawful in Albania. Soon after the fall of the dictatorship, Verbica encountered new opportunities that enabled her to apply the term of ‘abstract impressionism’ to her work.

Since then from 1993 to 2017, she has shown 8 solo exhibitions in Tirana, Shkoder, Montenegro and Italy. Verbica has also been active in many group exhibitions in Albania, Montenegro, Italy, France, Belgium and Luxembourg.  She was also honored with titels and medals.
